The Independent Environmental Audit Process for State Significant Developments
In New South Wales, State Significant Developments (SSDs) are subject to strict regulatory oversight due to their scale and potential environmental impact. One of the primary compliance mechanisms for these projects is the independent environmental audit.
An independent environmental audit is a structured review of a project’s environmental performance. For SSDs, audits are required under development consent conditions and must be undertaken by an independent auditor approved by the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.
